For twenty years he'd played the part
Of Santa in the mall His bearded smile had won the hearts Of children big and small. His crimson suit, his elf-like hat His big black boots and specs With deep ho-ho's and friendly chat Had earned him great respect. The children queued for photographs While parents watched with pride He entertained with belly laughs But had no joy inside. When day was done and he went home He left his smile behind-- It's lonely when you're all alone, More so at Christmas time. Then from his high-rise vantage spot He'd watch the scene below-- Of late begun to think a lot-- "Why all the lights and show?" From somewhere in his mind's recess Recalled a tale once heard-- A God-child came to save and bless-- His heart was sweetly stirred. "How come the world's forgotten Christ Though it still celebrates? Has Santa Claus our hearts enticed And Jesus been replaced?" Got on his knees and cried to God-- The star shone in his heart; His life so long a mere charade But now he'd found his part. So now he stands outside the mall And gives out Jesus tracts And seeks to share with big and small Not make-believe but facts. The line to Santa Claus still throngs, By far the longest line-- The Way to Life's where he belongs Now he's been reassigned. Vincent Lyons.

Images from ultrasound Excitedly we gather round Amazing pictures awe, astound-- Two little persons, tiny souls Formed in secret--God controls. Snuggled in their cosy nest Two trusting little beings rest Oblivious to those they've blessed; At peace in Him who caused them be-- How marvellous! Life's mystery! By Vincent Lyons A lump of clay---formless, shapeless
Devoid of any loveliness, To darkened eyes no usefulness In this muddy, miry mess; The Potter has a different view He sees beyond this 'blob of goo' Knows what it can be made into-- A special work He loves to do. He fashions it with utmost care Into a vessel rich and rare A work unique without compare Fit for King and Kingdom's Heir. Each handmade work of art now stands As testament to skillful hands Which fashioned into something grand A lump of clay once worthless, damned. You say you need some evidence
To show that God is real; If you could see you'd be convinced So let us make a deal!! If I can show through things you see His witness is widespread Would you not then with me agree To check out all He's said?? At common things let's take a peek-- A bucketful of seeds-- Though similar they're all unique-- They could be plants or weeds! Each one within its tiny shell Has attributes intact; We, in advance can now foretell What they'll become in fact. Does that speak 'random chance' to you Or great intelligence? I'm sure that should you think it through Creation makes more sense! The sun and moon and stars on high Keep their appointed spot; Such is the order of the sky Their futures men can plot. Take Venus' transit past the sun Which science can forecast; That says to me a great Someone Once planned it in the past. Now add to that the prophecies, Those to this time fulfilled-- Seems One behind the scenes decrees According to His will. He's told us things that yet must be All written in a book, Where you and I can check and see-- Why don't you take a look!! That you might seek, that you might find, Divinity's displayed, An ordered universe designed-- A truth none can evade! By Vincent Lyons. Emergent preacher truth drip-feeds
To congregation choked by weeds, He fashions 'god' to their felt needs Avoids the truth when it impedes And measures worth by what succeeds. He mouths the words of proper creeds And verses out of context reads, He tickles ears and ego feeds For tithes most eloquently pleads With promised wealth from 'planted seeds'. Beware the wolf whose faith is greed!! Who would for gain God's Word concede By crafty guile the sheep mislead; Don't give him half a moment's heed--- Get out of there with lightening speed!! It's not the wool that tells the breed; Good looks can blind and thus impede Good sense discerning grain from weed, But from the heart of all proceed What's good or bad---it's guaranteed. The man God sends will not exceed The Word of Truth and Spirit's lead But teach and feed as God's decreed; ('New truth' can't Scripture supercede) His heart and mouth with Christ's agreed!! From where did life originate?
By 'big bang' or did God create? This question causes great debate. Did God make all? Did all evolve? A puzzle every man must solve-- None can avoid 'cause truth's involved. To most the 'big bang' is a fact; To me a theory quite abstract, Impossible to be exact!! That 'nothing' could disintegrate An ordered world to then create And life-forms thus would propagate??? It's not been seen by anyone That such a thing was ever done-- Exploding 'nothing' equals none!! A theory is a thought proposed And cannot be a fact supposed-- How dare it be on us imposed!! Creation on the other hand Is easier to understand, Is evidenced by every man; For demonstrated every day God's works and wonders on display An ordered universe portray. The answer to the question posed Is right before your very nose Not 'fossilised' as most suppose; Observe the stars, the moon and sun Still doing as they've always done-- All keep their place since time begun. All nature is a testament In words precise and eloquent That God exists---it's evident; Emblazoned on the rocks and sky On fish that swim, on birds that fly, On oceans deep and mountains hight. The answer asks a question too If proof means anything to you--- Is there something that you should do??? Vincent Lyons. The prophet Jeremiah had a message from God for the people of His time which was most unpopular.
His message was that people were living far from the knowledge of God and they needed to return to the truth of God's revealed Word, which had been delivered to them in the past. If they did not return judgement would come. But the people preferred to listen to the 'prophets' who told them what they wanted to hear. JUDGEMENT came!! There is a definite parallel with the day and age in which we live. Nobody wants to listen to God's truth which was manifested to men in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ which is recorded for all men everywhere to read. But everyone is keen to hear the latest song or read the latest book(blog) or listen to the latest 'academic' who promotes sin, rebellion and unbelief. If we continue this way-------------JUDGEMENT!!! "If today you hear His voice do not harden your hearts". Heb 3:15. Just recently we have been declared to be drought free for the first time in years. As a result I felt inspired to write the following poem in thanks to God.
Last week no colour here to view Save rustic soil beneath the blue But then He sent life-giving rain-- The earth drank deep, the flowers came And painted new the drab terrain. A coloured carpet springs from dust So none can see the red plains rust; Ten years of sun-baked dearth and drought-- Who would believe as deserts sprout The rain could bring such beauty out? The sky now filled with chirping tunes; The word is out--"the desert blooms"-- All nature sings in festal glee As insect, bird and honey bee Join in the glad festivity. Depicting how God's Spirit can Infuse new life in barren man; On lifeless souls, drought-ridden, dry When they to Christ as Saviour fly He'll pour His Spirit from on high. Then from your soul new life will spring Your world will change, your heart will sing; Forever gone the spirit's drought-- Glad heart within bears fruit without-- Life-giving waters bursting out. I'm sure you've heard this question posed.
More often than not it is more of a statement than a question and contains the underlying suggestion that this is a conundrum or problem for which there is no answer. To the natural or humanistic mind it may pose a problem but to those who believe in Almighty God who is the creator and sustainer of all life it has a very simple solution. God tells us in Genesis chapter 1 that He made all plant life with their seed in them and in like manner He created all animal life after their own kind and instructed them to propogate and fill the earth. We know that ever since, from the chicken comes the egg and from the egg comes the chicken!! God created the chicken with the egg inside!! How simple yet how marvellous!! 'Intelligent design' is often put forward as the alternative to evolution, the big bang theory, etc.
This is a good thing and is definitely a step in the right direction. But I would like to draw your attention to a danger that is often hidden behind outward expressions of belief in intelligent design: Many who declare such belief do not believe in Almighty God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as the Creator. I urge you to check out the complete picture when presented with views that seem agreeable with your own on some major issue. Remember the devil believes in God!! |
