When measuring the distance to distant stars scientists refer to the distance in terms of 'light years'. By this they mean the length of time it would take a beam of light to travel from earth to the star in question. If they say that a star is ten 'light years' away it means as I understand it that it would take a beam of light, which travels at approx.186,000 miles per second ten years to get there.
So they are talking massive distances. When we look at how far man has travelled in relation to the size of the known universe we see that we have not really left the ground. Now take a look at Revelation ch 4 v 1 & 2. John the apostle was on the island of Patmos when God called him up to Heaven. He was in Heaven, in the throne-room of God in an instant. It seems to me that the speed of light is just 'snail's pace' in comparison. We know from Scripture that Heaven is above the stars eg.Jesus ascended on a cloud and disappeared from view. In Isaiah ch 14 v 13 & 14 it is declared that God's throne is above the clouds and the stars. Though man through science and human wisdom seeks to conquer the universe he will never be able to achieve it. God is the Lord of the universe and nothing is impossible with Him. Put your faith in Him and not in man!!
