Baubles, stars and twinkling lights
Festoon suburban homes Wide-eyed children scream delight They see no evidence of slight In red-garbed grinning gnomes. Gifts we give, and gifts receive We splurge without much care For what transpired on Christmas Eve-- Perhaps most people don't believe? They can't be unaware. For centuries on history's page If man would care to look Christ Jesus' birth took centre stage But in this modern 'informed' age Few heed what's in The Book. The children mostly do not know Beyond the season's glint Except for hype and flashy show They treat Christ's advent here below A major non-event. "Let the little children come" The Saviour clearly said-- What's transpired? What have men done? They've made the birthday of the Son A Christless feast instead. Whereto from here? I fear the worst But this is my advice; For this trend to be reversed These children whom the world's coerced Must learn of Jesus Christ.
